The REAL on Chemical Peels

Ever feel like you wish you could replace your face? Relax while you resurface your complexion to perfection, release congestion, and let go of a complexion that is lackluster? A peel might be the solution for you; no longer will you long for skin that is luminous and glowing.

What is a chemical reaction peel:

A chemical peel is a controlled chemical burn done by a professional in an effort to rework the intracellular matrix of the skin on an epidermal level that may also yield dermal level results. While many acids work in a favorable fashion for this purpose, some acids are better than others at specific tasks. Some acids may need to be combined, or supported by other modalities and practices to produce results; while other acid types stand alone for best efficacy. Not only the acid itself but the technique used as well will allow the professional to attain the results you’re complexion is craving (such as CROSS therapy, layering, or pasks (peels that apply like masks).

Chemical peels address the following complexion concerns:

texture- fine lines and wrinkles acne scarring

tone- increase collagen and elastin production

clarity- smooth hyperpigmentation turn over damaged and dehydrated cells to reveal hydrated healthy skin

get the feeling of peeling- while visible peeling is highly sought after by clients hoping to get the best bang for their buck, some acids yield very little visible peeling but this doesn’t mean the acid was any less effective. In fact, in many cases the best peels are those with a very small molecular weight allowing for deep penetration and minimal downtime. Peeling benefits don’t end and begin at application and peeling. The benefits of a quality peel and the transformative effect can take up to 4-6weeks to be seen.

when to peel- while some peels seem to produce little to no effect it’s important to note that the effects are taking place beneath the surface layer of your skin and for this reason it’s important to protect your skin from harsh environmental elements when peeling such as extreme warm or cold temperature's and direct sun exposure. Peel season is 8 months long at Luxe Lair Esthetics (October-March) which is a good guideline to use in you also reside in warm climates.

Aftercare- your skin is an investment and no peel should be considered if it doesn’t come with aftercare to protect your new complexion and give it a fresh start in the right direction.
